"Yes! How you know??!!!" I replied while cracking my brain to think how on earth she could have know Mel and Matt.

"WOW, serious ah!!!"

I'm simply amazed at the probability of finding THAT one video out of a million ones on Youtube.

Hi pretty ladies,

The groom and his entourage will be reaching my house at about 7.45-7.50am. Due to my teochew custom, I will need to leave my house at 8.30am and proceed to the proceed to the groom place. Let me know what time you will be reaching ok =) My makeup artist should be reaching about 6.15-6.30am. I also was telling Chow that i got a request which is to make the groom write a letter to me and read to me (somethin like a love letter and vow/commitment) before he can see me hee..

I will reach SAM at 1pm and the makeup artist will reach at 1.15pm to do my makeup etc again to prepare for my matrimony.

Heard from Chow that Hui will be helping me do for boxes for Ang Paos for matrimony and dinner? Thks lots! Believe u will make a pretty and secure one =).. ladies will need u all to help me guard e ang bao for the matrimony. Lester, one of matt's entourage will be there too..he will take care of the money. Help me to aid him ok? Thks lots! Thanks Serene for helping me order and buy the flowers for my hair deco on 29 june. Anyway for 29, will need u gals ard at the reception. =) Thks Sushi for being my PA for the 2 days. =)

'27' dresses

I'm here to dish and haolian my dresses!

Had a chat with chow chow that day on Tay's matrimony dress and the dresses we owe.
Today I xin xue lai chao, dug out all my dresses to try. It's like a delightful treasures finding out of a long forgotten plastic bag, I went ooh and ahh over the dresses; of course I also recovered dresses i wish they were gone with the wind.

Let's start with those that I don't like. Should really sell it on auctions or flea market soon.
(Left): checkered dress from far east..$40+...snorez..so not worth it, because it's too baggy, I have to find a belt to go with it and the colour does not match my skin colour.
(center): zig-zag dress foc from tuition kid's mom. hmmm...cutting shows the curve but the design, no lah..
(right): Another foc dress, nice lavender blue but it's too big for me..

The ultimate most repulsive dress, I just refuse to remember it's existence. I paid $100 for it to be tailor-make. colour sux, designs altered don't know how many times and it's not even fitting. ROAR!!

Not too bad, only a few dresses that I don't wear, shows that I'm not an impulsive shopper.

Now, let's move on to dresses that I like.heee..
(left): because I was disappointed with the green dress, I picked another off the rack for the dinner. Not only is it very fitting, it's material is good.
(center): Cheap cheap dress I bought from auction at $15. Silky and elegant. (Turns out my bro told me the auction seller actually got it from This Fashion)
(right): My splurge from GG>5 (i simply love their line of clothes!) for CNY 2008. Another silky dress.hee..

(left): Another cheap cheap green dress from City Plaza, worn for my uncle's wedding. We could go there to source for our little yellow dress!
(center): Dress from GG>5, I wore this for work..Love it to bits! Vrey comfy and I love the pleats.
(right): My latest dress from GG>5, just waiting for a chance to flaunt it! Before that, I've to alter it first, it's too big for me.

And my JC Prom dress from Miss Selfiegh! I love it I love it I love it! I'm so happy that I can still fit in it! There was a period time when i got too fat for the dress. I simply adore this dress, the cutting and the OMG! glittered outline. I'm thinking of turning it into a toga with a thick black shoulder strip (see Chow's entry, first yellow dress) as the top of the dress is getting loose. think this is too glam for tay's wedding dinner?

Hee, haven't decide which dress to wear for Tay's wedding. I am so excited!!

Oh, and I HAVE to introduce my all time favourtie! AHAHHAAHHA...TKGS UNIFROM!!!!!! Mine is still in a fantastic condition.

Our Very First Hen Party

We have decided to go Genting for a 3D2N weekend trip for our first hen party.

Date: 20-22 Jun
Venue: Genting Hotel (so that we can have comfortable double beds, for everyone to sleep in)

Arrange your schedule to accomodate the trip ok?

Poffy, please bring our time capsule. We'll open it then! Tay can take home the first time capsule. We'll also make our 2nd time capsule, besides going crazy at the amusement parks and other fun stuff there.

I don't know how much it cost but since it's school holidays + weekend, holiday surcharges are unavoidable. Probably should budget $200-250 for transport, accomodation, not sure about breakfast.

On the other hand, I still rally for Tioman. It's a beach getaway (includes transport, accomodation, 2 breakfast, 1 lunch, 2 dinner, snorkelling/island hopping) at about the same price! Got sun, sand, sea and the view is bee-yoo-tiful!

Basic price is only $205 per pax (at the best rooms) which includes all the mentioned above. Only has Saturday surcharge (which I included), no school holiday surcharge. It's still cheaper than Genting. Think about it!

Long Distance Relationship (LDR)

Dear Serene,

Do you realise you've survived a LDR for a whole 7 months??? So it's not impossible. And in fact, very probable. Hui hui, gambate neh!

Does that mean I can also go wandering for half a year and still maintain my relationship? That's a very delicious thought. I've just finished a book about a lady's soul searching journey in 12 months called Eat, Pray, Love.

She goes wandering along the cobbled streets of Italy, looking for the best pasta and pizza and gelato ice-cream, meeting charming Italian men (and maintain platonic friendships), watch Italian football matches, went to school to learn Italian and practise with the people there. I am very inspired! Have I mentioned before that I wish to stay in Italy for three months? OMG, I am so very inspired.

BKK Photos - Hui

I'm ashamed that Serene has posted her bkk trip but i have long yet to do so.
So here it is! Photos galore!

In the weeeee morning, we set off from Serene's house. Never leave home without a pic of our beloved Changi Airport.
I am excited!

I can't believe I'm back in Bangkok, it has been 2 years since I last stepped into the Land of Smiles..
Oh so familiar..

..the blooody long queue..

..and their never-ending expresssways.

Back to our dear Serene, from the minute she stepped onto the plane, her hands never left her precious notebook.
She records everything..on the plane..

and you will catch her recording expenses and blahblah..our we are having ice cream.

For Day 1, didn't do (i mean..buy) much. We rushed to the malls straight after checking in. Was rather disappointed as we hit the wrong malls which sell stuff mostly out of our budget. Nevertheless, I found JS's favourite shop while we were in bkk 2 years ago..his Liverpool shop, it's still there!

AND my favourite shop 'Loft', bought a few plant kits that you can grow 'hair' (bean-sprout alike) from a small cute cartoon head. I love it!

We did hit MBK, but my loot was only so-so lah..

That's mainly it, afterwhich we went back to the hotel for lotsa photowhoring moments. Me and a cowboy hat, stylo milo enough?

Day 2 - A VERY very very VERY lovely day
We went crazy. full stop. We shopped like all malls would be closed forever the next day.

Chinatown was our first stop and I'm so glad Serene acceded to my request to visit that holy place, appreciated it babe!
Alleys after alleys of treasures waiting to be dug, from bags to earrings to christmas gifts. Imagine this, a pack of diamentes hair clips going for S$2. But it's not easy to navigate Chinatown as it's bloody big, lanes are narrow and you have to keep watching out for stunt motorists..and it's really very packed in some areas.

We went Chinatown then we headed to Platinum Mall and then to Suan lum. You can check out my loot at the end of the entry. A foot massage at every 2 hour shopping interval is strongly encouraged. I'm glad I took Serene's advice to give the massage a shot, it's SO worth it.

We did our nails at Suan Lum too.

And we managed to catch the beautiful fireworks, we are 2 lucky gers!

Last Day in Bkk
We visited Chatuchak, didn't get to visit this place when I was here the last time round. We enter this place with our small bags..

And we came out with these! Absolutely satisfying trip!

Our last night in Bkk, we had our second Swensen desserts. Check out Serene's masterpiece.

I'm in love with a dress I saw at Bugis Junction yesterday. It's a party dress at the shop next to Bysi. You know the dark dark shop with all the party dresses? It's across the Mickey Mouse shop and Body Shop. It's a green dress on the mannequin. It's soooo nice! Beautiful color (royal green) with light fabric.

Only problem is the price $160. I need a reason to buy it! Tay, tell me the theme for your wedding dinner is green................................................

Merry Xmas my darlings! Sorry I couldn't go for your annual Christmas musical. Although we can't spend Xmas together, we can celebrate Poffy's and Hui's birthday! (Sorry, I can't do New Year's Day. Already got plans :P)

Poor Hui will be without her sweetheart this coming birthday. So let's have a big ass party! Do you prefer BBQ, pot luck or steamboat? I vote for pot luck. Make sure we have the menu confirmed (we tend to leave everything to the last minute and do the cooking at the host's place. haha.) and make sure you guys bring some creative dishes :) Those who can't cook, can buy of course. Just make sure it's yummy!

And bring some games. I'm addicted to Scrabble and have bought a travel size set.

Bangkok Trip 15 to 18 Nov 2007_Hui & Serene

Sorry for the delay of the post. Most photos with Hui so I just post up mine first....

Before the trip, Hui and me had pre-planned to go to about 7 places in just 3 days! So once we touched down in BK, there was no time to waste and we immediately hit the shopping malls.

Here goes the photos....

Day 1

Reaching the land of smiles

A mini van transferred us to Bangkok City Inn... And we are the only 2 passengers on the spacious van. Shiok!

First Stop, World Trade.... to get cheap undies. But were left disappointed, as the prices were about the same as SG.

We actually planned to go MBK next but passed by Siam Square so we stopover for a while.... Many thai designer shops but prices of the clothings are quite ex. I bought some nice tees and a pair of shoes from there. Hui bought some clothes.

Night time was spent at MBK. There were like 7 levels and endless stretch of stores.... That was when I started to SFS (Scream for seats!!!) My legs ached quite badly from all the walking and I tend to sit a lot if I saw seats in the stores. But me and Hui were still very determined to conquer MBK that evening!

Fully Loaded!

Haha... I brought the NTUC tote bag to carry my barang barang. It's quite embarrassing when a Singaporean lady at MBK recognised it and know I'm also a fellow Singaporean. Somemore, I was in the middle of a bargain with the seller (-_-)'''' I swear I am not going to bring any thing that will reveal my SG identity there anymore!

We took the Tuk tuk back to our hotel that night. It was a first-time experience for me. Very thrilling, as can be seen on our faces!

Here're the stuff I bought on first day...

Day 2

We woke up, fully charged and ready to chiong again. First Stop to Chinatown!

The place sounds a bit dull when Hui first described to me before the trip. But I thought I shall just visit it to experience the thai's chinatown, as well as try the bird's nest (heard it's good!). When we were there, I can't help falling in love with it. It's a place buzzing with lotsa life and energy and exciting things for you to discover...

Wholesale shop selling slippers. Note that most of the shops in Chinatown sell wholesales items. Hui and moi saw a no. of pretty bags and shoes but unable to buy cos we don't need 6 items with the same design!

Hui with a sea of earrings... Chirp Chirp CHeAp!

We bought many accessories and some cute stuff there. We left Chinatown at bout one and headed to Platinum Mall, my shopping heaven!

We decided to have our lunch first before we start our shopping hunt at Platinum. While we were going up the escalators, our eyes scanned through the numerous funky retail shops at the diff levels and we got very excited. We quickly finished our food and start shoppping from the highest level.

For myself, I bought 2 pairs of shoes, 2 bags, more tees and thai-designer clothes from Platinum. Ultra Happy! Hui also bought a mountain of things I remembered. Haha.... Both of us actually had to return to our hotel first to unload our stuff so that our shopping bags have space for our evening shopping!

That's our Dinner at PM - the spirit of shopping divas!

On our way from PM back to the hotel, we chanced upon fireworks at Isetan! Think they were rehearsing for the King's 80th Birthday? We were so lucky! I managed to capture some moments of it =)

At about 7.30 pm, we took a cab and went to Suan Lum Night Market - to be exact, should be MarketS. We realised that there were not only one - but 4 football-field-sized markets in that Suan Lum place *Faintz* By the time I was half way through the first, I couldn't tahan and started SFS SFS SFS!!!!

The shops at the markets were arranged in a parallel manner so it's actually quite easy for you to get around the place.

Below is the shop where we bought our Accessorize-liked kind of slippers (u will see it later in my purchases pic). The lady shop owner below hand sewn the gems onto the slippers. Ichiban! In person, she is really really pretty and her skin is flawless. Me and Hui quite smitten by her. haha... So we requested to take a photo with her but somehow she doesn't look very good in it. Neva mind....

As we continued walking, I went SFS SFS SFS again.... really cannot tahan. Finally, we got to try the Thai massage after we finished the first market. I feel that the foot reflex is not that fantastic but the back, shoulder & neck massage is superb!

Then, it was more walking for us before we stopped at one nail parlour that Hui is satisfied with. And we got our nailart done. Think it was like SG$4-6 only!

Back in Hotel, we sorted the things we bought on that day and started snapping again.

My Day 2 Purchases:

Choi Accessorises from Chinatown. Mine is a modest quantity. You should look at Hui's! She bought dozens of earrings.

All the things below are bought from Platinum, except the pillow, straw bag, slippers and towel.

And I must really show off this..... I finally found my ideal Mary Jane shoes (left pair). I can't find anything more choi than this in Singapore. And for the flats, my colleagues commented that it looks like a designer item. Hao Kai Xin!!!

I was very satisfied with my Day 2 purchases.

Day 3

We had our breakfast at the Hotel's rest., at the same time admiring our nails.

After breakfast, we walked to the nearest train station to travel to Chatuchak (CCK) Weekend Market. Some photos along the way...

Their train system is pretty much like Singapore, quite organised and easy to get around to places. It is also clean.

The weather was very hot when we reached CCK. There were also many ppl around to add on to the heat. Can not take it! So we quickly went inside one section of the market to avoid the sun but was greeted by a disgusting drain stench instead. Neva mind... we continued walking further into CCK and saw many variety of shops. I understood from Hui that CCK has diff sections for diff things. Like fashion stores are clustered together in one section, deco in another etc. But to me, I don't really see a clear division. There can be like a pet shop in between another stall selling food and deco. Talking about pet shops, I must say the puppies there are really cute and tiny but the stinky smell from the pet shops just prevent me from going nearer.

We passed by several unique shops. There was one that sells seashells accessories. From bangles, earrings, seashells rings to necklaces.... I spent quite some time in that shop choosing the items to buy. There was another that sells really nice print tops. Hui loved it at first sight. But I did not buy anything from the shop, as I was not sure whether their tops will fit me nicely (Note that most small shops do not allow you to try on their clothes. One smart tip is to bring your own fitting top around when you shop so that you will know whether the size is right). I bought a rather unique designed top, some nice hair accessories and a chic cap from CCK. I love the cap very much!! Shuai!

Both Hui and me actually started to get worried about our baggages on the 2nd day evening. Cos the stuff we bought definitely can't fit in our pathetic luggage bags. So both of us each bought a big plastic bag (the china mainland kind) in CCK. It may sound funny to you but it is actually quite a common sight to see ppl carrying that everywhere they shop. Some even comes with a trolley. Good stuff!

We left CCK around lunch time and took a Tuk tuk and train to Big C / Hotel (something stupid happen along the way but I will cut away this part).

Later part of the day, we went back to Platinum Mall to comb the remaining shops we failed to visit in Day 2. That was when Hui bought her 3 pairs of nice shoes at a very good price. For moi, I bought hairbands, pouches and a hello kitty cosmetic bag (for my sis) within 15 mins cos all the pushcarts were closing for the day. Call it last min shopping huh! haha...

After this 2nd round of shopping at Platinum, we went to enjoy Thai massage again. Shiok! We also had some nice fondue at Swensons before returning to our Hotel. I will suggest you to eat as much Swensons as u can when u are in Thailand, cos they are so cheap!!!

Ok, I "forced" Hui (that's what she claimed but I think she's also very excited about the recording loh) to do some sharing of her best buys and her thoughts for the trip. So each of us has 2 recordings which unfortunately I can't share/upload here. Though it may be silly but I think these videos will serve as happy memories of the days we had in Thailand =)

To conclude, Bangkok is really a Superb place for shopping! That wonderful feeling of shopping all day long and not burning too much of a hole in your pocket is just too good. Hope to be back in the arms of BK soon!

i always knew i was going to marry her.

the proposal actually goes way back to more than 5 years ago. there was a period of time when i thought i had lost her. and i had gone back home to california, left with only my thoughts and perceived misery. there's this spot i always go to, just to be alone, do my QTs, or just to think. it's this barren cliff near my house that overlooks all of the san fernando valley. usually it's riddled with stones, dirt, and an occasional piece of trash (which i usually try to clear out.) but on this day, the day i thought i lost her, there was something else on the cliff. a single flower. this little yellow flower sprouting in the middle of what's basically a mound of dirt. it was a sign of hope, also a remembrance, that i lost her. so i just grabbed it...plucked it from the ground that it was born in, and took it home. i pressed the flower in an old dictionary and stashed it away. it was at that point i accepted that i may never be with her....and i decided to move on.

fast forward 3 years, both of us had our own paths. granted we were in the same school but our friendship was merely a hello and goodbye with underlying awkwardness from the past. we dated other people and grew during that time as well. but in the end, we were single...two pieces of the puzzle, not knowing that we fit.

the empire state building, a malaysian restaurant, a movie, and some hershey's kisses paved the way. and then it was January 22nd, 2001. the timing was perfect...we started to date. and on that day, i took out what was once lost...the single flower that was pressed in my red dictionary. i placed it in a wooden frame and gave it to her as a symbol that i got her back. that i didn't lose her afterall, that instead, i had her all along.

i always knew i was going to marry her.

so we dated and dated. and every single minute was amazing. from the trials and tribulation to the joys and laughters...every moment was important. at a certain point we were getting anxious. was marriage in the horizon? when can we start spending the rest of our lives together? and then me being a guy, i worried about the financial stability, the approval of parents, the commitment.

i have to admit, there were times when things were rocky, there were times we even doubted that God knew what he was doing. but all we knew is that we wanted to be with each other.

before we knew it, it was January 21, 2006. the day before what is to be our 5 year anniversary. i had spent 2 weeks working on a scrapbook looking back at 5 years of our relationship. now, you gotta understand, it's been years since i did anything arts and craftyish so me with a gluestick and scissors ain't a pretty sight. but i finally finished it the night before...it had dozens of movie tickets i had saved over the 5 years. every ticket to musicals we've been to. notes we passed to each other, pictures of us on various trips we took together, two pages dedicated to our dogs who are a big part of our lives. and as i sat there showing her the scrapbook i asked her to add little things in them.

i always knew i was going to marry her.

she pulled out old notes, drawings that i drew for her long ago. she helped glue in a musical ticket. we laughed at all the stuff we did. read some of the silly notes we passed to each other in class. and kept contributing to the scrapbook..until the last page.

the last page were two empty pages with just grass on it. "what should we put in here?" i asked. she looked around her room and pondered. then she thought of the framed flower. she resisted at first because she was afraid that the flower would break, but she eventually got up...grabbed the frame and sat down on her bed. she began to peel away the pegs that kept the back of the frame closed.

and as she opened it, she noticed a message written in ink on the inside of the frame.

"if you're reading this then we've made it this far...and i know we would. without much further ado, will you marry me? - please say yes!"

and underneath that, a date was inscribed....January 22nd, 2001.

i always knew i was going to marry her.

and she said yes.

So what do you girls (everybody except tay...) think? How do you want your proposal to be? I definitely want something unique, not something extravagant, but something close to heart...

Darlings, don't you think ECP is too rocky, too many mozzies, too noisy, too heartland-ish etc?

I thought and thought, thinking that it's silly to bear the uncomfortable environment when Singapore has a lovely, albeit artificial island to offer! We high and mighty ladies should be enjoying relaxing evening by the pool, with the beach just steps away. We can watch the starts in the middle of the night, not to mention checking out the cuties lounging around too.

So, I called my mum and asked for lobang la. We're getting a room at Siloso Beach Resort. It's a sweet, little resort and it's very new.

I was offered a tour of the place when I met the owner, a potential client. I loved it. Designed by the owner, the resort is nature themed. Some of the rooms have trees going through the middle of the rooms! Unfortunately, I'm not pally enough with the middle-aged boss to get a complimentary room.

Anyway, I got a room already. No arguing.

Date: 29 June, Friday (I'm checking in first during lunch hour, since no one's available. My office quite near la. Unless somebody wants to take half day leave to check in! You can then have the room all to yourself. Tempted??)

Romantic Venue: Siloso Beach Resort (Website doesn't do itself justice.)

Time: Checking in at 3pm. But I'm going back office after that.

Cost: $10 per pax

What time can you guys reach Harbourfront with your overnight stuff? We may need to meet in two groups, unless all of us can meet at around the same time. I can reach at 7.30pm.

After some discussion between Chow and myself, we decide to have a special night out to celebrate the June & July babies' Bdae! See details below...

Date: 29 June (Friday) Night... Romantic
Venue: East coast park
Time: reach between 10 pm to 12pm.
Activity:
we plan to pitch a tent near the beach and carry out the following activities...
1) have some girls' talk - as usual - but this time under the moon. can do some star gazing as well.
2) play board games and if you like "truth or dare"... i believe there are more on the way!
3) have a night pinic (potluck - everybody, pls list down the food you are bringing under "comments")
4) night walk along east coast
5) some night sports like roller bladding, cycling (let us know if you have roller blades and/or bicycle)
5) and of cos loads of photo whoring (i can provide the camera!)
6) anybody who can start a campfire and play guitar or musical instruments are welcome.

Now the logistics:
1) anybody who has a portable cd player, pls bring it! we would like to blast the beach down! again, let us know under "comments"
2) anyone or someone you know has a tent that can fit 8 ppl? otherwise, we have to invest in one...

Yes, this is very exciting sia! i'm thinking whether we should have a dress code as well? time to squeeze out all your creative juices!

Things zoomed by rapidly. Before the month is up, he has already charmed my parents and Haiqi. And more importantly, he has been approved and certified by Hui, Nfen and Serene in the first round of interrogation. Passed with flying colours~

And seems that he is quite comfortable with them too. Rest assure that he is sincere in making friends with you (unlike Jerk You-Know-Who), otherwise he would not have offered us the chalet. Or asked a few times when we are meeting up. Or suggested that we could organise a BBQ/steamboat.
